If there is one thing I’ve learned in traveling around the world, it’s that dressing for the occasion is as important as remembering your passport. I recently became acquainted with afternoon tea and I have a few quick tips for attendance before showcasing my outfits below:

1. Always do your research. Every tea service requires a standard dress level so make sure you are dressing within code guidelines. If it isn’t specified on the site, call their number to ask about any restrictions or requirements.
2. Be comfortable. You’re there to enjoy yourself without feeling constricted the entire time. Sipping five cups of tea can happen quicker than you’d think.
3. Don’t be rude. The Duchess of Bedford didn’t create afternoon tea for attendees to sit on their phones. It’s a social activity and someone being on their phone the entire time can make things awkward. If you must take that photo (like I do for my blogs) then get that photo quickly and jump back into spilling the tea with your friends.

Boulder Dushanbe Tea House

Boulder hosts a very colorful tea house that was handcrafted in Dushanbe and delicately pieced together in Colorado. Boulder’s mayor wanted to showcase the culture of its sister city in Tajikistan so a deal was struck for the tea house to be built. It was artfully crafted and painted by forty artisans of Tajikistan and was completed upon arrival in Colorado. You can read more about this amazing tea house on their website. There’s a lot of history to the tea house and I wouldn’t want you to miss out on its incredible origin.
